The Factory is on the beachfront at Hapuku, 10 minutes north of Kaikoura. It offers five-star luxury lodgings in a separate wing of the historic Hapuku Dairy Factory with dramatic views of snow-covered mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. Your hosts Skip & Sean shared love of this beautiful country have lead them to embrace a new adventure in this little slice of paradise, set amongst the picturesque town of Kaikoura.
The area plays well to skips love of the outdoors. After Immigrating from England as a child, and settling in Auckland, Skip has spent time working in banking, raising two lovely daughters (Ebony and Summer) then going on to become a qualified gym instructor, which lead to her forming a popular running group. She's competed in lots of off road races, including an Ultra Marathon! She is most at home hiking/running/riding on beautiful trails.
Sean is born and bred in New Zealand, growing up in Culverden, North Canterbury. After high school, he joined the army to complete his mechanical trade. His focus shifted to performance car tuning and then onto a role with the Ministry Of Justice. Sean likes to spend his spare time making sure the freezer is well stocked, he's an avid hunter and Fisherman.
In 2012 Both Skip and Sean decided to leave the Auckland rat race, seeking a slightly more relaxed lifestyle, which they found in the quiet Kiapara settlement of Glorit. Given their passion for meeting new people, they quickly established new friends and business within the community. Skip set up a home based gym as well as working with Sean to run stock on their 20 acres of land.
New opportunities called in late 2018 when they found the factory. The area of Kaikoura has long appealed to the pair, with great fishing & hunting, and trails for running, hiking and mountain biking right on its doorstep. Skip and Sean are looking forward to sharing their passion for all things kiwi and welcoming you into their home
