Ark In The Heart Of Kiwifruit Country

Last week Johnny and I were kindly gifted a night away with a company called Off the Beaten Track. Off the Beaten track was born out of the knowledge that most of New Zealand’s best kept secret places are off the beaten track in private ownership. It is their aim is to connect lovers of the great outdoors with undiscovered locations and experiences.

I actually hadn’t heard of this epic company till we were asked to go on a roadie, it was a no brainer to say yes, we both love a good adventure and this time of year gets so crazy and a little (or a lot) stressful and overwhelming. Switching off and changing up the scenery for a night was very refreshing.

We were sent to the Ark in the Heart of Kiwifruit Country, which is part of Tui Ridge. Tui Ridge is located at the end of a long treelined driveway in the heart of the kiwifruit orchards of Katikati. There are views out to the Kaimai Ranges and the property is located in the middle of a kiwifruit orchard. The ark where we stayed is very cute and cosy and sleeps two. It was so lovely to be out in nature, to wake up with the birds and if you saw my Instagram story - the view when we woke up to was quite spectacular.

There is also a Tranquil Treehouse to stay in at Tui Ridge which looked very cool. The Ark and the Treehouse share an enclosed outdoor bathroom. This also has incredible views and half the fun was running to the bathroom in our towels to have a shower the night we got there. There is also a shared guest kitchenette/lounge available for guest use beside the house, and a guest barbeque.

When we lived at the Mount, we had discovered this incredible pizza place in Omokoroa called Neighbourhood Pizza. So, we decided to venture back that way to have a pizza and glass of wine for dinner. The service and food is always incredible, so would definitely recommend a visit. The best part about the accomodation is that you are tucked away but also not too far from lots of fun activities. Unfortunately we had to pop off early in the morning to get back for work but there is lots of fun things to do around the Bay of Plenty. If we had the day we probably would have popped over to the Mount and visited our favourite cafes, spent some time at the beach, walked up the mount and on the way home explored the Poripori waterhole.

Thank you so much to the team at Off the Beaten Track for sending us on a roadie! It’s made us very excited for summer, the first roadie of many I’m sure! I definitely encourage you to have an explore of their site, and find some fun and unique accommodation to visit. Happy adventuring and exploring

Love and Health,
C xo
